Rwanda Elections and Violence in DRC’s Kasai region

The opposition in Rwanda battle against incumbent Paul Kagame in the upcoming presidential election. Also in DRC’s Kasai region, thousands continue to flee the violence and finally, is piracy plaguing the African cinema industry?

In Rwanda, presidential election campaigning kicks off ahead of polls on August 4th. Three candidates including incumbent Paul Kagame, are vying for their country’s top job.

Also, continuing violence in DR Congo’s Kasai region has led thousands of people to flee. An estimated 3,000 people have already sought refuge.
And finally, 183 million euros is the estimated annual shortfall for the African audiovisual sector, owing to piracy. As the Yaoundé film festival approaches, the fight against piracy is taking centre stage.
